The meeting was held in the conference room with 15 attendees present. The evening began with food and refreshments, including pizza from Fatty’s (pepperoni, combo, cheese, and vegetarian) along with a selection of beverages. Attendees were invited to serve themselves prior to the start of the meeting.

The meeting officially opened with a guest presentation by Kyle Brook, PLS, who joined remotely from the Bay Area on behalf of the Young Surveyors Network (YSN). Kyle provided an overview of the organization, including its purpose, benefits, and current initiatives. He discussed various ways to get involved, emphasizing networking opportunities, professional development, and participation in events held throughout the year. He also clarified that the YSA is geared toward early- to mid-career professionals, typically those with 20 to 30 years remaining in their surveying careers. The organization remains highly active in both Southern California and the Bay Area.

Following the presentation, the chapter transitioned into its regular business meeting. An icebreaker was conducted in which attendees introduced themselves, shared their company affiliation, and noted the furthest location they had surveyed from San Luis Obispo County. The standout response came from a representative of CSDS, who reported surveying in the Philippines during military service.

During the business portion of the meeting, it was announced that the chapter’s previous Secretary and Treasurer Laird Nelson had been removed, and Luz Garcia was appointed to fill the position. Luz Garcia presented the chapter accounting broken down into committees as well as the list of chapter members we have for the current year. The Board of Directors report was then presented (see attached minutes), which included discussion on QBS selection positions for the upcoming board of directors meeting.

Committee updates followed. The Barbecue Committee discussed plans to request a budget allocation to purchase additional supplies; however, several sponsors volunteered donations, and their logos will be featured on upcoming event flyers. Additional committee reports were presented with standard discussion (see attached reports for full details).

The meeting adjourned at 7:48 PM. It was announced that the next meeting will take place September 16th in the Wallce Group Conference Room.
