This is a scan of the October 1991 edition of Parallax. This was one of the earliest newsletters created by the chapter. Marty Labuda, a long-time chapter member, bought Microsoft Publisher (first came out in 1991!) and offered to publish our newsletter for a small fee. Marty, who also made lath, hubs and stakes for surveyors, was looking to get into the newsletter publishing business. I am not sure how successful he was with that, but he was our publisher for a couple of years. I would bring a disk with all the files for the newsletter to his house, along with labels for the mailings. I would sit there with him as he put it together and make sure we had the layout the way we wanted it. Then he would make all the copies and do the folding. He would organize the mailings by zip code and where we could, we would do bulk mailing of the newsletter. These usually were mailed within two days of me getting the newsletter put together.
