Parallax is starting 2026 with a new look and a new editor. I want to thank Matt Cunningham for his editorship in 2025 and for the smooth transition for me.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

First, the new look. The idea behind this new look is to make it easier for users to see the newest articles and to read those that interest them. This was a major transition, so please let us know if there is something is not working right, or any ideas on how to improve the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have added some new pages, including a history of the chapter. The history has gaps over the years. As you look that over if there is something that you know is missing or wrong, please let us know. It is hoped that this page will be constantly updated with current information so it does become the official history for the chapter from here on out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, the new editor. This is not the first time I have been editor for Parallax. I was the original editor in 1990, when the chapter first decided to have a newsletter mailed out instead of just a meeting notice. I believe that we were the first chapter within the state to have a newsletter, and so far no one has proved me wrong. I have stepped in from time to time to act as editor in the years between then and now. I intend to only be editor for one year, so that I can fix any issues with the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chapter will be looking for a new editor in 2027, so if you think you might be interested, let me know and you can start off by being an assistant editor this year. If you know or are interested in learning WordPress, that will be a big plus. WordPress is the framework that this website uses. One reason is that it is extremely popular, so there is plenty of information available for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope that 2026 will be a good year for you and also that you will think about contributing to your professional development some way over the year. It that development is in being an editor or writing articles for the surveying community on the Central Coast, please get a hold of me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
