SUMMARY:Global Surveyors' Day
DESCRIPTION:The path to Global Surveyors’ Day began back in ancient Egypt when society first used surveying techniques to divide land. Throughout history\, surveyors have remained the pioneers of discovery shaping our world to its current existence by exploring the unknown on earth and in space. Fast forward to 2013 when the signing of the Budapest declaration created a common worldwide celebration for those leaders\, past and present. We are proud to proclaim Global Surveyors’ Day as a way to globally recognize the ground-breakers\, pioneers\, individuals and the industry that has shaped our history and continues to be the foundation of our communities.

SUMMARY:Where survey firms are quietly losing money (Free Educational Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:Hi\, \n\n\n\nMost survey firms don’t struggle because they’re bad at surveying. \n\n\n\nThey struggle because no one ever taught them the commercial side of running a survey business. \n\n\n\nAcross the industry\, we’re seeing the same pattern again and again. \n\n\n\nNot a lack of work … \n\n\n\n… but a slow\, quiet leak in revenue that most firms never measure. \n\n\n\nIt usually shows up as: \n\n\n\n\ntime spent on the wrong activity\n\n\n\ndiscounting just to win work\n\n\n\nmissed projects you never even hear about\n\n\n\nfixing things later that should’ve been built properly from the start\n\n\n\n\nIndividually\, none of these feel like a big deal. \n\n\n\nBut when you add them up … it’s often $$$’s a year. \n\n\n\nSo we’re hosting a webinar to break this down properly\, in a way that actually makes sense for surveyors. \n\n\n\nNo fluff. No “just post more on LinkedIn” advice. \n\n\n\nJust a clear look at where the money is going\, why it’s happening and what to fix first. \n\n\n\nIf you’ve ever felt like your pipeline is more reactive than it should be … this will feel very familiar.

SUMMARY:NGS Webinar
DESCRIPTION:On the Trail of the Changing Alaskan Geoid: Results of the 2025 Geoid Monitoring Survey\n\n\n\nPresenters:Ryan Hardy\, PhD\, Geodesist and Geoid Modeler\, NGS Gravity and Heights Branch;Kevin Jordan\, Cartographer\, NGS Field Operations Branch \n\n\n\nIn the fall of 2025\, NGS followed up the 2021 geoid monitoring field campaign to measure geoid change in southcentral Alaska’s rugged valleys. In this webinar\, NGS presenters Ryan Hardy and Kevin Jordan will discuss the challenging gravity\, GNSS\, and astronomical observations required to create a high-resolution snapshot of how the gravity and heights change over time. This survey has mapped out the accuracy of GEOID2022 in this region and revealed accumulated changes in orthometric heights since the Coast & Geodetic Survey’s high-precision survey following the 1964 earthquake. The data from this campaign will be used to improve the spatial resolution of GEOID2022’s dynamic component.

SUMMARY:Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:DATE:Wednesday\, May 20\, 2026Time:5:30pm Social6:00pm DinnerLocation:Side Street Ale House & Eatery Back Patio6155 El Camino Real\, AtascaderoMapDinner:    Order off the MenuMenuProgramPast President and current chair of Trig-Star Committee\, Luz Garcia will discuss our chapters 40-year history of involvement in the Trig-Star program as well as talk about how it works at the State level.his will be a business meeting\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Trig-Star Program began in 1984. The idea came from Russell E. Kastelle\, RLS\, who was a member of the North Dakota Society of Professional Land Surveyors. As the ACSM Delegate / National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) Governor from North Dakota\, Kastelle’s idea came from a desire to promote the surveying profession. Originally\, designed to operate only on the local level\, Trig-Star soon grew to include the National Competition and scholarship opportunities. \n\n\n\nWhen Kent Green proposed that NSPS sponsor Trig-Star as a national contest to NSPS president\, Richard Lomax\, they created the first Trig-Star Committee. Chaired by Larry Doss\, they worked to develop national testing guidelines and secure funding for awards and scholarships. \n\n\n\nOver the years\, volunteers and state societies\, such as the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors\, have improved the testing instructions while Don Murphy\, John Chagnon\, Tony Gregory and others worked to ensure that the format and standardization remain consistent with educational criteria.
